    Recording

Recording for GAROU's single, 'If...Kagai', is almost complete, on schedule for release on the 1st May. This single is comprised of two new songs. Additional information can be found on the 'Discography' page.

'If...Kagai' is the first GAROU album recorded in separate locations. Until June, GAROU is currently working in two different locations; Hoshi, Reita and Zone are currently in Melbourne, while Tsubasa is in Tokyo.

A variety of different sound mixers were used, including a custom 302 Compact Production Mixer. In specific, the track on this single is very typical of GAROU's sound, yet was given a more rough, raw feeling to it.

Like GAROU's first album, '[S]yste[M]', this single is more an experiment than a fully-fledged release. Thus, it will be available in several stores around Japan only.

Hoshi is the vocalist, and one of the two founding members, of GAROU. Raised in Chiba, Japan, Hoshi started GAROU along with bassist Tsubasa in late 2004. Despite having no vocal training, his voice can range from soft whispers, to aggressive yelling, to extremely feminine high notes. This often causes confusion as to how many vocalists there are. There is one; Hoshi. Often alternating between singing styles in seconds, he brings a truly variant sound to each of the songs.

Hoshi is fluent in both English and Japanese, and doubles as the composer and lyricist of all GAROU's songs. It was his idea to relocate to Melbourne. Due to this initiative, Hoshi has become the 'leader' of the group, moreso than Tsubasa, the other remaining original member. Hoshi is currently committed only to GAROU, and has no occupation on the side. He hopes to continue with GAROU, and see them become famous.

    Hometown: Melbourne, Australia
    Zodiac: Gemini
    Joined: December 2005
    ----
During GAROU's line-up change in November 2005, Reita was quick to fill the roll of Lead Guitarist. In her fifth year of guitar lessons, Reita immediately had what it took to join GAROU. She was recruited in December 2005, during which time GAROU was also signed onto their first record label, Flying Sickle. Reita can play in near perfect synchronization with bassist Tsubasa, making the guitar and bass a skillful blend into one. Furthermore, her playing style usually varies between songs, giving each of her works a very distinct feel.

Reita is fluent in English, and learning Japanese for a better understanding of GAROU's nature. Aside from GAROU, Reita is studying a sociology course at university. She hopes to one day work with animals, or in relation to matters of human rights.

    (Tsubasa)

    Stage Name: Tsubasa (Sue-bass-ah)

    Real Name: Hiro Matsumo
    Position: Bassist
    Instrument(s): ESP J-1005
    Age: 20
    Gender: Male
    Birth: May 7, 1985
    Height: 5'8" / 172cm
    Weight: 49kg / 108lbs.
    Hometown: Chiba, Japan
    Zodiac: Taurus
    Joined: January 2005
    ----
Tsubasa, the bass player of GAROU, was one of the two founding members. Having played bass for just a year before starting GAROU, Tsubasa and Hoshi looked for other members instead of initially recording any songs. Tsubasa has now played bass for three years, still attending professional classes. Tsubasa can play in near perfect synchronization with guitarist Reita, causing the blending of both instruments into one. Most of GAROU's songs have a strong bass influence, often reducing the guitar work to second place.

Tsubasa is fluent in Japanese, but only knows basic English, and is currently learning the language. Like Hoshi, he has no other commitments, apart from GAROU. Like Hoshi, he intends to stay with GAROU, and hopefully to, one day, see them become famous.

Newest addition, and only non-asian member of GAROU, Zone is the drummer. After the line-up change in late 2005, Zone approached the band, only to be initially refused. A last-minute change of mind ensured her position as the band's drummer, and she joined in January, just in time for recording to start. She has played the drums for six years, and it often ranges widely, from non-stop pounding, to almost non-existant tapping, sometimes alternating between styles within seconds.

Zone speaks English, and is planning on soon learning Japanese for the band. Aside from GAROU, she works part-time in the retail industry, but is planning on working with GAROU alone once the tours start in June. She plans to stay with the band for now, but one day wants to become a writer.
